About PorchLight

Housing with humanity at its heart

At PorchLight, we believe the solutions to our greatest social challenges lie in the invisible thread that holds us all together - human connection.

What if the answer lay not in building more walls, but opening more doors?

Across our society, a not so quiet crisis is unfolding.

For the younger generation, the very people who power our local economy and breathe life into our neighborhoods, are being priced out of the very communities they serve by an impossible housing market, sky-rocketing rents and the cost of living crisis. With home ownership for many feeling like the impossible dream, even finding an affordable, safe and comfortable place to rent has become a genuine struggle.

Meanwhile, just streets away, a quieter crisis unfolds behind closed doors. Thousands of older residents occupy homes once resonant with family, laughter and the hum of daily life. These spaces, rich with history and character, now stand hushed. As spare rooms gather dust, their owners navigate long stretches of solitude, missing the invisible thread of human connection that turns a house into a home.

What if the answer lay not in building more walls, but opening more doors?

PorchLight offers a suite of flexible, fully managed solutions - from our Intergenerational Home Share Scheme and Traditional Lodging Service, to Mid-Term Lettings. Each pathway is designed to reduce loneliness, empower independence, and unlock flexible, affordable living. By bringing people together, we create mutually beneficial homes rooted in purpose and connection. Not charity, not care, but community in action - built to adapt to the rhythm of modern life.

Meet the founder

Jamie is an Isle of Man–based entrepreneur driven by a belief that business can bring people closer together. Following the success of Island Escapes, the island’s leading holiday cottage company, which he exited via acquisition in 2025, he turned his attention to challenges closer to home, including loneliness and the housing crisis. PorchLight is his response, focused on creating meaningful connections through shared living.

When he's not working on building the PorchLight community, you'll find him out on the water.
